Underpinning is for homes with failed strip footings supporting brick walls, not stumps or slabs. Where restumping replaces failed timber or steel stumps, underpinning repairs a strip footing that's cracking or sinking. We dig new support pins deep beneath the existing footing, concrete them in, then lift the house and lower it onto the new pins for a stable, level foundation.
